Warranty
In short
When you buy a product at Window Cleaner Depot, you may expect it to work correctly under normal professional use. Depending on the type of product and the manufacturer, you may be entitled to warranty in case of a defect.
Warranty is about rights and conditions, not about how repairs are carried out in practice. On this page we explain when you are entitled to warranty and what is and is not covered.
The practical handling of repairs is explained on the Repairs & servicing page.
Manufacturer's warranty
Most products at Window Cleaner Depot are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. This warranty is granted by the manufacturer and applies for a period they determine.
Within the manufacturer’s warranty you are entitled to:
- repair
- replacement
on condition that:
- the product was used normally and correctly
- the defect is not the result of wear, incorrect use, faulty assembly or external damage
- the manufacturer’s warranty conditions are respected
The exact conditions and duration of the manufacturer’s warranty differ per brand and product. This information can usually be found in the product documentation or on the packaging.
Does the manufacturer's warranty also apply to professional use?
Yes, but with professional use, warranty is often interpreted more strictly than with private use. Intensive or continuous use can affect how a warranty claim is assessed.
Who decides whether something is covered by the manufacturer's warranty?
The assessment is made based on the manufacturer’s conditions. In some cases the product is examined by the manufacturer or an approved service point.
Legal warranty
Alongside the manufacturer’s warranty there is also the legal warranty. This means that a product must do what you can reasonably expect from it under normal use.
There is no fixed warranty period. The duration of the legal warranty depends on, among other things:
- the type of product
- the nature of the professional use
- the price and expected lifespan
If a defect occurs within a reasonable period and is not the result of incorrect use, we will look together at whether a solution is possible.
Is the legal warranty automatically longer than the manufacturer's warranty?
Not necessarily. Legal warranty does not mean a fixed extra period, but an assessment based on reasonableness and use.
What is not covered by warranty?
Warranty is excluded when the defect is the result of:
- normal wear
- intensive or incorrect use
- use outside the product specifications
- faulty assembly or installation
- modifications or repairs by third parties
- damage during transport after delivery
- external factors such as impact, water or frost damage
- services provided / labour hours
In addition, consumables and parts subject to wear are generally not covered by warranty, including:
- rubbers
- brushes
- filters
- resins
- hoses and couplings
- replacement blades
- Pads – of any type
Unless explicitly stated otherwise by the manufacturer.
What if I am not sure whether something is wear?
In that case the product is assessed based on use, age and application. Wear through normal professional use is usually not covered by warranty.
Proof of warranty
Your invoice or proof of purchase serves as proof of warranty.
- Webshop purchase: available in your webshop account
- In-store purchase: original invoice or receipt
Without a valid proof of purchase, a warranty claim can be refused.
Is an order confirmation enough?
No. Only an invoice or official proof of purchase serves as proof of warranty.
Defective on arrival
If you receive an item that is already defective on delivery, this must be reported as soon as possible.
Depending on the situation:
- the item can be returned within the return period
- or a suitable solution is proposed
If a shipment is delivered damaged, refuse it at the courier service. If you accept the shipment anyway, this is at your own responsibility and Window Cleaner Depot cannot be held liable for damaged goods or products.
For this, also see the Returns & cancellations page.
Does this also apply to large or heavy machines?
Yes, but with large or technical machines this is always looked at individually, as these cannot be returned as standard.
